Completion & Well Construction Manager

The Screen Saver Valve is an innovative solution developed to maintain well integrity during completion operations, specifically designed to prevent debris and contaminated wellbore fluids from entering the completion string. Originally developed in collaboration with Det Norske Oljeselskap for the Ivar Aasen development, this valve plays a crucial role in safeguarding sand screens and other downhole equipment from damage caused by unwanted particles and fluids.

One of the key features of the Screen Saver Valve is its ability to maintain a pressure overbalance inside the screens. This overbalance prevents 'dirty' wellbore fluids from entering the completion string, ensuring that only clean fluids flow through the screens and into the wellbore. By doing so, the valve effectively prevents the plugging of screens and other equipment, which can lead to costly maintenance and reduced well productivity.

The Screen Saver Valve is equipped with an adjustable opening pressure, allowing operators to fine-tune the valve to specific well conditions. This adaptability makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from standard completions to more complex high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) wells. The valve's robust design includes a metal-to-metal seal, which provides superior durability and ensures a gas-tight seal up to 10,000 psi. This seal is designed to last the entire lifetime of the well, offering a significant advantage over conventional float equipment, which often relies on less durable phenolic or plastic components.

In addition to its primary function of debris prevention, the Screen Saver Valve also serves as a reliable barrier during completion operations. Its ability to maintain pressure control within the wellbore makes it an essential tool for operators looking to optimize well integrity while minimizing the risk of equipment failure.

The valve's heavy-duty construction is designed to withstand the harshest downhole conditions. Key components are made from high-alloy materials that resist erosion and wear, ensuring long-term reliability. The valve is available in a range of sizes and can be configured with either single or double valve arrangements, depending on the specific requirements of the well.

In summary, the Screen Saver Valve is a critical component for maintaining well integrity during completion operations. Its innovative design, adjustable features, and durable construction make it an invaluable tool for protecting downhole equipment and ensuring the long-term success of well operations.
